Smash Remix ROM patcher

Smash Remix is a Super Smash Bros. modification for the Nintendo 64. The project release links to smashremix.net as its online patcher; smash64.online/remix/ is a community patcher that links to the same release notes. The button text checked on 7 Nov 2026 reads Patch ROM (v2.0.1), and the patch notes point at GitHub tag 2.0.1. The project release is dated 8 March 2026. Older v2.0 labels refer to an earlier release and are not the current version. The page asks you to provide your own Super Smash Bros. ROM. It does not hand out the game.

The base is a US .z64. I do not have a SHA-1 from that page to copy, so the hash cell is empty. Do not borrow the Mario 64 hash. It is a different game. Byte order still applies: a .v64 will not satisfy a patch built on a .z64. Some players talk about an 8 MB memory setting in emulators. I am not turning that into a requirement the project page did not state in the sentence I am citing. If the readme on the version you downloaded names an 8 MB mode, follow that readme.

Online xdelta and the project's own patcher can disagree if the delta was built with a secondary compressor or against a different dump. If you are applying a loose .xdelta instead of using their button, read the secondary decompressor page when that exact message appears. Their button is allowed to be a different build from commit 4f17297. I do not claim the two buttons are the same code.

Questions

Should I trust v2.0 or v2.0.1?

Trust the project page, which said v2.0.1. Treat v2.0 as a different sentence from another site.

Why is there no hash?

The project page tells you to supply the ROM and does not print a SHA-1. I will not calculate one from a dump I am not distributing.
